1964 was the first complete revision of the Corvette with the Sting Ray. Some consider this the best Vette ever.
The only thing the same from the previous year was the steering, the front suspension, and the engine.
A steel-reinforced cockpit was added that gave the car twice as much steel support. There was also less fiberglass on the body. This Corvette was the first production car with independent rear suspension, designed by Cheif Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov.
1963 was the first year a coupe was produced for the Corvette.
Sales records were set every year of the Sting Ray but one.
